| Notes for Frances DAVIS |
"Grandma Lawson, oh my goodness, I loved her to pieces. We hardly ever got to go because of Daddy, the way he worked, his hours, you know. I remember Grandma saying, "Ooooh, here's my babies!!" and she'd hug us and hug us, and kiss us! But that's the only thing I can remember - how she reacted when we went to see her.
I remember her kitchen, oh how I loved to eat there at Grandmas. She had a great big long table, with benches on both sides. It wasn't very wide, but it was great big and long with those two benches on each side. She had a great big kitchen; a kitchen and dining room all together.
I spent the night with them, but mostly it would be visiting because I was too little to walk over there by myself. It was usually just when Daddy could take us and come back and get us.
Their house had a great big long huge kitchen, and cabinets. I don't know how many bedrooms, and I think they even had a bed in the living room. I liked it. It was well furnished, wallpapered. I think it had floral linoleum on the floors, lace curtains, just panels, you know, no tie-backs." [As told to Laura Henderson, by Hazel Brooks Corder, 2003]
"I loved Grandma Lawson. She was just so sweet. Grandpa too. Oh my, when they saw us, it just tickled them to death." [As told to Laura Henderson, by Hazel Brooks Corder, Jan. 23, 2005] |
