ABOUT THE ARTIST

Laura Henderson brings over two decades of experience as an award-winning graphic designer to her new endeavors as a fine artist. After creating visual media for prominent clients including Discovery Channel, PBS, Conde Nast and The U.S. Mint, she returned to her roots, putting her BFA in Painting & Printmaking to work.

Working primarily in acrylics, Laura focuses on landscapes, still-lifes, and traditional subject matter, though her approach to these themes often varies in unexpected ways. She draws particular inspiration from the distinct environments she calls home: the rolling hills and picturesque towns of Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, and the historic architecture and light-filled marshes of South Carolina's Lowcountry.

Laura's artistic vision often extends beyond American shores, with travels to Italy, Ireland, and Scotland inspiring works that capture the rugged beauty and cultural richness of these distant lands. Whether rendering the historic landscapes of Virginia, the golden marshes of the Carolina coast, or the windswept highlands of Scotland, her paintings reflect a deep connection to place.

Her work has been exhibited at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley and can be purchased at select locations across the southeast.
